Confusing spelling!!
“I don't see any use in having a uniform and arbitrary way of spelling words. We might as well make all clothes alike and cook all dishes alike. Sameness is tiresome; variety is pleasing.”
― Mark Twain
Just a few of my resources!
My library.
Here are just some of the books in my childrens' library. I have over 300 books for children aged 5 - 12 years.
Take learning outside.
Children love being outdoors when learning. In the warmer months we go on scavenger hunts and use the ground surface of the downstairs playground as a chalkboard.
Match box phonics.
See how many small items you can fit in a matchbox and have your child say the sound the item starts with. Can they then match the sound with the letter?
Themed activities.
Kids love themes. Use story books to create a theme or simply build the lesson around something the child loves. In this case it was football!
Confusing English!!
Look at all of the ways you can spell the same sound in English. Argh!!
My letter sound balls.
The children adore these. We play all sorts of games with them and they are a fun way to practice single and double letter sounds.
